During this lesson students will begin to explore several different future career options.  This lesson also begins a discussion on the importance of being responsible and forming solid work habits.

Activity: The entire kindergarten classroom will work together to create a Career Reference Book to keep in their classroom.  Each child will work independently on a career-themed coloring page that will be bound together to form a reference book.

1st Grade:

The 1st grade participants will begin to explore career options while also understanding the word "responsible."  This lesson emphasizes the importance of creating positive work habits now, as habits are hard to break and change.

Activity: Students will trace over the sentence, "I am responsible" on their worksheet.  They will then write or draw different ways they show responsibility when they are at home and at school.

Student participants will begin to explore different career options and learn that it is normal for them to change their career preferences as they continue to grow and learn more about their strengths and weaknesses.  Students will also understand that their current job is being a student, and that the habits they are forming now will stick with them as adults.  This lesson focuses on how it takes hard work and dedication to reach career goals.
3rd Grade:
Book: On the Town: A community Adventure

The 3rd grade students will continue to expand their career knowledge by learning about a vast amount of career selections.
Activity: Students will be broken up into groups of 4-5 students.  The mission of each group will be to think of a career name for every letter of the alphabet.  The first group to complete this task wins the game.
